Horse Trainers Life
MG EQUINE FARM: TRAINING HORSES WITH HEART
We wake up in the early morning, put on those old boots that smell like the barn, we go out to the sound of horses screaming and wind whistling like a teapot. We go to the feed room and make out the grain, feed the hay, an water, we muck the stalls and add the sawdust.
We go back to the house make a pot of coffee and maybe turn the news on. After the coffee, we go back to the barn. As we start our day we ask our selves what horse first, what bit do we ride in today, do we use the work pad or the breaking saddle.
We then begin our day of riding and lessons. We don’t question why we do this, we don’t question the time we wake and the time we sleep. Our job is not 9-5 it’s from the time We open our eyes to the time We shut them.
We sometimes miss a meal or two but our horses never do. We may cry, we may bleed, we may even break a bone. But we never stop we just keep pushing forward. We push our selves to the breaking point, but we never break.
As we lay our self to sleep our bones my pop, our backs may hurt, our eyes may be dry but we sleep those little hours or get no sleep at all. This is a trainers life and no matter what anyone says or how hard we have it we will never change, as the hoof prints that cross our hearts can never be removed as they were put there by God himself. He said we need people who can tame a wild animal, be there for a newborn foal, or stay up all night with a sick horse.
God put these hoof prints on our hearts because he knew we had a passion.
